Head & Neck Restraints
The revolutionary Hans device should be used by every racer. Basular skull fractures can occur at
as little as 35 MPH, making this life saving device necessary for even the lightest track activity. Make an investment in yourself and hope to never use it!
While far from simple in function, the Hans device is quite simple
to use and install. To choose the appropriate size and model of Hans device, it is necessary to measure your neck size and determine the angle of your seating position. Follow the link below for sizing information. Then review the anchor installation and other install tips. If you have not already
(shame on you!), this is the perfect time to review your harness
installation and condition. Your harness shoulder belts may need to be
relocated for use with your Hans. If your shoulder belts are coming off the side of the device
check your restraint mounting! Hans devices can be used with either
full 3" harnesses or 2" Hans specific versions.
Device tethers should be replaced every 2 years. Check your tether dating to make sure you are current. When upgrading from fixed to sliding tethers the upgrade kit should be used, which includes the required revised nutwashers. Do no install sliding tethers with the older thinner nutwashers.
